Chief Executive Officer, Every Infant Matters

Dr. Shelly Batra, MBBS, MD is the CEO of Every Infant Matters, (www.everyinfantmatters.org) a not-for-profit organisation working in India, Nigeria, Kenya, Philippines, and the Dominican Republic, with the mission of providing last-mile health and nutrition to disadvantaged populations. The orgnaisation’s flagship project is distributing Vitamin A to malnourished children, to prevent deficiency-induced irreversible blindness.

She is the Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Advanced Laparoscopy Surgeon in a large tertiary care hospital in India. She was selected as a Social Entrepreneur and Schwab Fellow by the World Economic Forum in 2014. She is an Ashoka Changemaker, Huffington Post blogger and a best-selling Penguin Author. She has lectured at Ivy League and other universities, and has delivered TEDx talks for the World Bank and the prestigious IIM. She has obtained her MD from King George’s Medical College, India. For decades, she has served the needy with free consultations and surgeries before moving to the NGO sector in 2005.

She is a much sought out speaker at global platforms. Some of her talks have been:

She has received several awards for her work, some of which are as follow:
1. Visionary Leader in Healthcare 2023 awardee, given by the Financial Express, which is part of the Indian Express Group.
2. Exemplary Contribution Award for selfless work for the under-served, given by the Indian Medical Association 2018
2. Ashoka Changemaker, 2010
3. World Wide Achievers award for excellence in Health care, given on March 2014
4. Strategy award at India’s National Competitiveness Forum and Porter Prize event 2014.
5. Gifted Citizen award 2015 given by Puebla City, Mexico.
6. Porter Prize for innovative healthcare- 2016
7. Recipient of several gold and silver medals and trophies, including the Mary. E. Shannon Memorial fellowship for the Best All-rounder Student of Isabella Thoburn College, and the Abdullah Haji Memorial Trophy for the Best All-rounder Student of King Georges Medical College, India.

She has served on the Pediatric Advisory Board of TB Alliance for 3 years, a position that resulted in development of Pediatric formulatons for TB medicines, which are now there in more than 70 countries. She is currently on the board of WISH Foundation.
