Mark Post

Professor and Chair of Physiology, University of Maastricht

I am trained as MD, PhD and am currently holding the chair of the Physiology Department at Maastricht University. My main research interest is the engineering of tissues for medical applications and for food, which has lead to the development of cultured beef from bovine skeletal muscle stem cells in an effort to supplement and transform the traditional meat production through livestock. In August 2013, my lab presented the world’s first hamburger from cultured beef. I am CSO and co-founder of two companies, MosaMeat and Qorium that aim to commercialize cultured meat and cultured leather
