Director-General, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). With the CII for about 3 decades and has been Director-General since May 2008. MSc in Economics, specialization in Economics of Planning and Econometrics, University of Calcutta; degree in Economics (Hons), St. Xavier's College (Calcutta). Formerly, held several senior positions with CII, including Head of regional operations in the Northern, Southern and Western Regions; has worked out of headquarters in New Delhi and has been based in Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Ahmedabad; initiated the Centre of Excellence of the Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association. Member: Advisory Board, Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council; Board, Global Innovation and Technology Alliance. Director: Invest India; Singapore India Partnership Foundation. Managing Trustee, National Foundation for Corporate Governance. Recipient of honours and awards, including: China-India Friendship Award from Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao for contributions to the development of bilateral ties between India and China; Knight Commander of the Order of Queen Isabella by His Majesty the King of Spain in recognition of achievements and contributions to promoting relations between India and Spain. Secretary for several bilateral CEO forums constituted by the Government of India, including with Australia, France, Russia, Canada, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Japan, Sweden, South Africa.
